BX Creek Waterfall: Vernon's Hidden Gem (And It Flows Through Our Cidery)

BX Creek Waterfall: Vernon's Hidden Gem (And It Flows Through Our Cidery) - Hardcore Cider Co.

BX Creek Waterfall: One of Vernon's Best-Kept Secrets

If you're looking for a quick, rewarding hike near Vernon with a stunning waterfall payoff, BX Creek Falls is where it's at. It's not overly crowded, the trail is manageable for most skill levels, and the waterfall itself is worth every step.

But here's the cool part: BX Creek doesn't just flow through the forest—it flows right through Hardcore Cider Co.'s property.

Yeah. The same creek that feeds this waterfall runs through our cidery. That's the kind of connection to the land we're talking about when we say "estate-grown" and "terroir-driven." This isn't just marketing—it's literally the water and landscape that shape our cider.

The Hike to BX Creek Falls

Trail Details

Distance: About 2 km round trip
Difficulty: Easy to moderate (some elevation gain, but nothing crazy)
Time: 30-45 minutes each way
Best time to visit: Spring and early summer when the waterfall is at its peak flow

The trail follows BX Creek upstream through a beautiful forested canyon. You'll hear the creek the entire way, and the sound of rushing water gets louder as you approach the falls.

What to Expect

The waterfall itself is a multi-tiered cascade that drops through a narrow rocky gorge. In spring, when snowmelt is feeding the creek, it's absolutely roaring. By late summer, it's more of a gentle flow, but still scenic and worth the hike.

There are viewpoints along the trail where you can get close to the falls and feel the mist. It's a great spot for photos, a picnic, or just soaking in the North Okanagan wilderness vibe.

BX Creek & Hardcore Cider Co.

Here's where it gets personal.

BX Creek flows directly through our cidery property. The same water that carves through the canyon and feeds the waterfall also runs through the land where we grow our fruit and craft our cider.

That connection to the watershed, the soil, and the landscape is what makes our cider uniquely Okanagan. It's not just about apples—it's about the entire ecosystem that produces them. The water, the minerals, the terroir. All of it flows together (literally) to create the fruit that becomes our cider.

When you drink Unhazy Hopped, The Core, or any of our expressions, you're tasting the result of that connection. Estate-grown fruit. Land-based production. BX Creek running through it all.

Why BX Creek Matters to Vernon

BX Creek is more than just a waterfall hike. It's a vital part of Vernon's natural landscape and agricultural heritage. The creek has been used for irrigation in the North Okanagan for over a century, feeding orchards, farms, and ranches throughout the valley.

It's a reminder that this region's agricultural success—apples, cherries, vegetables, cattle—is tied directly to the land and water. And that same agricultural heritage is what makes craft cider possible here.

How to Get There

From Vernon: Turn onto Tillicum Road from Silver Star Road, then follow signs to BX Creek Falls trailhead. There's a small parking area at the trailhead.  Or use the Star Road Parking Lot - 6100 Star Road, which is just steps from the cidery.

Pro tip: Go early in the day during weekends in spring and summer. The parking lot fills up fast when the waterfall is at its best.

What to Bring

  • Good hiking shoes (the trail can be rocky and slippery near the creek)
  • Water and snacks
  • Camera (the waterfall is seriously photogenic)
  • A bottle of Unhazy Hopped for the post-hike celebration (just pack out what you pack in)

After the Hike: Cider Time

After you've hiked to BX Creek Falls and soaked in the views, swing by Hardcore Cider Co., open by appointment only (or grab a bottle from our online store). Knowing that the same creek you just hiked flows through our property makes the cider taste even better.

It's all connected. The land, the water, the fruit, the craft. That's what makes Okanagan cider special. And that's what makes BX Creek more than just a waterfall—it's part of the story.

Plan Your BX Creek Adventure

Whether you're a Vernon local or visiting the North Okanagan, BX Creek Falls is a must-do hike. It's quick, rewarding, and connects you to the landscape that defines this region.

And when you're done, crack open a cold Unhazy Hopped and toast to BX Creek—the waterfall, the watershed, and the lifeblood of our cidery.

Stay chill. Stay connected to the land. 🍎
